Union Health employees laced up their walking shoes and came together to celebrate National Walking Day. The event promoted physical activity, wellness, and community while giving team members an opportunity to connect and enjoy time outdoors. Supporting employee health is a core part of Union Health's mission, and Walking Day served as a reminder that small steps can make a big difference. We are grateful for the enthusiasm and participation of our employees as we continue to encourage healthy lifestyles and workplace well-being.
At Union Health, longevity reflects the dedication, expertise, and commitment of employees who have helped shape our organization over the years. We are proud to recognize those reaching service milestones and thank them for the lasting impact they have made on our patients, colleagues, and community. Their contributions continue to strengthen our mission and inspire excellence across Union Health.
Union Health is celebrating Employee Health/Occupational Health Month. Employee Health and Health Advocates focus on promoting and maintaining the health, safety and well-being of our co-workers. An employee health nurse/health advocate plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. We conduct health assessments, post offer physicals, drug screens, provide immunizations, manage workplace injuries and illnesses, coordinate our return-to-work programs and educate co-workers on health issues. By conducting health screenings and ergonomic assessments, we help prevent injuries and promote overall wellness ensuring that both regulatory compliance and individual health needs are met.
Last week, Union Health proudly celebrated Lab Week by recognizing the incredible contributions of our laboratory team. Throughout the week, co‑workers enjoyed a variety of food and snacks as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. Our laboratory team, made up of nearly 150 co‑workers across the system, play a vital role in patient care. Each year, they perform more than five million analytes, ensuring accurate and timely results that support critical diagnosis and treatment decisions every day. Often working behind the scenes, their expertise and commitment are essential to delivering high‑quality care. Lab Week provided a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and thank this outstanding team for their dedication to excellence. Looking ahead, we are excited for the completion of our new state‑of‑the‑art laboratory at the Union Health Main Campus, expected in January 2027. This new space will triple our capacity and significantly improve efficiencies, further enhancing our ability to serve patients and providers. We are grateful for all that our lab staff do to support our patients, providers and the entire health care system. “Our laboratory team is essential to everything we do—providing the accurate, timely data that drives clinical decisions and improves patient outcomes every day,” said Bray Scroggins, Systems Director. “We are incredibly grateful for their expertise and dedication.”
This year’s Run with Heart 5K was our biggest yet! More than 400 people registered, and around 300 showed up this past Saturday ready to run, walk, and cheer each other on. It was a beautiful day for the event and the energy was amazing from start to finish. We also had some very special four-legged participants! Several pups joined in on the fun, and the adoptable dogs brought by local rescues soaked up every bit of love and attention from 5K participants ❤ Huge thanks to Scoop There It Is for providing free pup cups! Even better, we raised $6,000! These funds will be split among Happy Tails, Lucky Pups, and Dog It, Dig It Rescues—helping more animals get the care and second chances they deserve. Nutrition Services also won the Department Challenge for the second year in a row! Congratulations!
