Pros

I’m incredibly grateful to be part of Alaska Airlines. As I approach my three‑month mark, I can confidently say it’s been a truly wonderful experience so far. From the onboarding process to ramping up in my role, every step has been thoughtful, supportive, and seamless. I genuinely appreciate how well Alaska takes care of its employees—it makes all the difference.

Cons

This isn’t really a con, but if you’re new to the airline industry, there’s definitely a lot to learn—especially when it comes to the acronyms and industry‑specific terminology. It can feel overwhelming at first, simply because everything is so new. That said, the team has been incredibly supportive, patient, and always willing to help, which makes the learning curve much more manageable.

Pros

Good work environment and culture. Leadership is strong.

Cons

Terrible compensation practice. Outdated approach, especially with corporate back office roles. Leaders have zero say in salaries. The compensation team has an outdated approach to pay and are not open to stay with the current market trends and challenging to partner with. There needs to be a willingness to change and align with the local job market. There needs to be an openness to listen to leaders' input. Its hard to hire and hard to attract retain good employees when we are competing with local employers in the Seattle area that offer better pay. It is very challenging to work with a compensation leader and team that do not listen.

Pros

Very welcoming environment. Learning tools and strategies are the best. The union feels like a partnership. AMFA is a great union. Pay is fair.

Cons

The commute from outside the SeaTac airport to into the airport is 30 minutes. The parking situation and organization is not ideal.
