Pros

Compensation similar to other contractors, free coffee/drinks

Cons

Senior management members of large engineering division promoted based on family or friends outside of the workplace. A favorite tactic of management is to belittle other employees publicly, discouraging anyone with a different point of view from remaining long at the company. Warning to recent college grads: very little to no professional advancement, daily activities are strictly administrative - either taking notes, managing someone else's calendar, or endlessly proofreading meeting invites. I have seen a senior VP take interest in hiring younger women regardless of qualifications, a bit unsettling for the future of the company. When contract was up for renew, it was rejected since a senior manager decided to hire based on appearance instead of performance.

Pros

JRC is still a small company and truly focuses on its employees. Their comprehensive benefits package is one of the best in industry.

Cons

Honestly, there aren't any cons with this company. Anything you need, JRC bends over backwards to assist.

Pros

WORK ENVIRONMENT – I work in the JRC headquarters and am client-facing. Work is project-based, so the actual scope, team, and location will vary based on what you’re currently engaged on and the desires of the client(s). Most folks I’ve met have a mix of in-person and remote work. If you strongly prefer fully remote or fully in-person, I suggest you inquire during the interviews. If you’re in-person, the office is pretty nice, and you’ll likely have a spot to make your own. PEOPLE - Friendly and outgoing folks. Depending on your personality, you can choose to engage as much or as little as you’d like with folks outside of your team or on non-work topics. For a smaller company, I've been impressed at the diverse group of people I've interacted with. There is a mix of professionals in the early stages, mid stages, and later stages of their careers. If there is a specific aspect of diversity or company make-up you value, I’d inquire. I’ve found the people to be inviting and inclusive. MANAGEMENT STYLE – There is a high level of autonomy for you to determine how you approach your work, develop and maintain client relationships, and deliver work products. The leadership team (including those you don’t work with) is welcoming, approachable, and caring. People will check in on you, see how your family is doing, etc. The management style I’ve experienced lends itself well to people who are self-starters and can take the initiative on their own, while not being shy about asking for help if needed. CAREER PATHING - I haven't been here too long, but there is a career pathway guide for various interests (for example, technical vs management). I've met many people at several different career stages who have been with JRC for extended tenures (> 5+ years). There are opportunities to get involved with events outside of your projects if you wish or participate in future business development efforts. Seems like there are ample opportunities to continue your education and training to maintain a relevant skillset for future client needs. COMPENSATION – I weigh compensation based on a mix of: work/life balance, total compensation, benefits, and paid time off. I don’t have any issues.

Cons

I don't have anything specific. Some of what I wrote in the "Pros” section may not be what you're looking for based on your career interests and working style. I'd recommend applying if there's an opening that piques your interest and inquire during the interview process about any specifics you want more information on.
